Dragon's Dogma 2 's first post-launch patch is here, letting console players cap the game's performance to 30fps. This comes after many complained that the unrestricted framerate was harming the performance, causing the game to noticeably slow down in busy areas.
Capcom has previously promised that improvements will be made to the game's performance overall in later patches, so those who choose to play without the 30fps cap should hopefully see fewer framerate drops soon. However, in the meantime, you might be better off leaving it at 30 to avoid major slowdowns in the middle of fights.
Right now, this fps change is only available on PlayStation 5 . The patch will also be made available on Xbox Series X/S though, so it should be available to all console players soon. The patch also lets PlayStation users toggle RTX and motion blur on and off, in case the fps cap doesn't go far enough.
The patch is going live on PC too, rolling out bug fixes and making some quality-of-life updates on all platforms. For instance, the quest that lets you acquire a dwelling will be made available earlier on, and everyone will be able to start a new save file now without deploying a complicated workaround.
Players have complained about Dragon's Dogma 2's poor performance since launch. For some, it was so irritating that they planned to kill a bunch of NPCs in the hope that it would free up space in the game , improving the framerate. Thankfully, with many NPCs able to be perma-killed, this could work in theory.
